Week 1 is a self portrait, so here is what I came up with. I set up the self timer and of course, Miles just couldn't resist, he had to be front and center!

Photography Challenge: Week 1
My friend LB from A Step In The Journey created a Photography Challenge to do every week. I decided to join in on the fun! Ryan got me a Canon for Christmas right before we got married. While I have taken great pictures with it, none of them have been because of talent, it's just a nice camera with a great zoom. I've been meaning to learn more about my camera for a while now and thought this would be the perfect opportunity.

Getting a little dusty
A few months ago Ryan and I found a great china hutch at goodwill for $25. It was a steal! There were several people in the store asking about it after we had already purchased it. We felt pretty good about it and were super excited about it! We figured a little sanding, a little touch up and maybe some stain or new paint and it would be good to go! We were WRONG!! This has been the never ending project. We worked on it a few weekends ago for hours and it felt like we had not done anything!
Mrs Pace sent over a few photos from our work day...
Since the process is moving so slooooow, I figured I would bring a few pieces home with me to work on to hopefully speed up the process. With this new beauty,
I got to work for a little while this afternoon and I thought I would share what Miles thought of the process.
It took me about 45 minutes, but I think I made a lot of progress, plus a huge mess.

Things I'm Loving...
There are a few things recently that I found that I just love, so I thought I would share!
First off, I love that my in laws are giving us fresh fruit and veggies every week. I have had a fresh tomato on my sandwich every day for a week! So yummy!
And since I have been cutting up so many tomatoes, I love my Pampered Chef tomato knife!
Yesterday I did a little shopping before our Bachelorette "party" and was able to save 48%! I love that! I think I actually made out a little better than that too because I got a few things for free! One of the things I picked up on a whim, I love! Someone is going to have to take them away from me!

On our trip to Amelia Island over Fourth of July weekend, we stopped in St. Simons on the way back. We went to visit a coffee shop our friends, The Preston's knew about. While there we were able to taste and purchase some of the Free Trade coffee. We bought the coffee in whole beans, so I had to order a new coffee grinder and it finally came last night. This morning I had a wonderful cup of Peruvian coffee. So delicious! Which is why it is placed on my list of things I love.
Another fun thing I'm loving right now,
I have always loved Hobby Lobby for their inexpensive home goods and the amount of crafting items, but when we moved, that meant we moved away from the Hobby Lobby. I have been desperate to get to one so I can start of some fun projects! I finally made the trek to the closest one last week and spent an hour and a half in there! It was wonderful, the only thing that would have made it better was a glass of iced coffee!
I also love the Harry Potter comes out on Friday! I will probably wait a few days for the rush to die down and then go see it. I am a little sad that this is the last movie, but still excited!
Happy Hump Day! Looking forward to the weekend!

What are you passionate about?
This is a really hard question to answer. I’ve been reading the book “If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg. I began reading this book because I feel like I’m missing my calling. I feel like my talents aren’t always used to glorify God. Part of the problem also lies in the fact that I can’t clearly identify my talents. Some people it’s so easy. My sister, a very bright individual, knew very early on that she wanted to be a physical therapist and she is a great at it. Some people it’s obvious what their talent is, they are a gifted vocalist, a talented dancer, an engaging public speaker. Some people are teachers, some are pharmacists, some are ministers. And it doesn’t always mean it’s an easy road, but at least it’s a little clearer. For me, I’ve really been struggling to determine what my talents are, where my passion lies. I know there are a few things that I’m passionate about, but it’s hard to decipher those “passions” from what is truly important.
So, my prayer for today is that I can learn to listen, learn to decipher my wants and needs from what God wants and needs of me.
