Short lived return...

I have returned (sort-of)...I have been sick for about a week and I just didn't feel like blogging...not to mention, I didn't have much to blog about sitting on the couch. I had every intention of downloading pictures and blogging about my fun weekend in Savannah for my good friend Jessica's bachelorette party, but I was easily distracted by American Idol tonight. I have always been sucked in by American Idol and have always been a dedicated fan, but this year it's like watching a train wreck, it's so bad you can't help but watch. I can't even name a favorite this year :/

And on another note, Ryan and I have started playing Gin Rummy at night. Right now we are tied at one each, and we are about to start a new game...results tomorrow night!! And I promise to have an update about Savannah tomorrow night too!!

P.S. we are very competitive, so I WILL win the rummy game!!

Weekend Update

This weekend was much more eventful than I originally thought it would be. Saturday started out with a deep clean of the apartment. If I’m being honest, it had been about two weeks since I last cleaned, so I got the hubby up early (9:30am, I know it’s ridiculous, he could have slept until 1pm or later if I had let him) and we set to cleaning. To my disbelief, he did not know how to clean a toilet or a shower, trust me, he does now!! I think we (or I) cleaned for a good two hours. There is nothing better than having a clean home!! We then set off to a couples shower for our good friends, Jessica and Danny. It was so nice to send time with good friends and good weather. We ended our night at my parent’s house, however the parents were gone!! Jenny and her fiancĂ© were nice enough to invite us over for dinner. It was a great evening, even though Kansas lost and really threw my bracket for a loop.

Sunday was such an exciting, yet sad day for us. Sunday morning I went to a reception for the 8th grade confirmation class. As most of you know, I work with the 8th grade girls on Wednesday night for small groups. It was such a joy to see the kids I have been working with over the past three years stand up and confirm to the church their beliefs. It was a great day for them and I pray that they remember that day and continue to grow in their faith.

On the other hand, when Ryan met me at church that morning he informed me that his Aunt Peg had past away early that morning. Peg is Mrs. Pace’s sister who has been battling cancer for a while and unfortunately she lost that battle. Ryan and Kevin left for the funeral Monday night, so they could be there with his family. I would have gone too, however Ryan thought it would be best for me to stay here since I’m sick and it would be such a quick trip. Thoughts and prayers for the Mrs. Pace and her sisters are appreciated.

Impromptu Weekend Away

So for those of you that don’t know, my husband is a die hard fan of Mississippi State. It is not just one sport; it’s all of them, particularly basketball though. So when MSU made the SEC championship game, naturally we had to take a trip to Nashville. We made up our minds to go at 8pm Saturday night and were on the road by nine. I slept the whole way:)

Sunday morning we got up to head off to the pep rally/send off at the Sheraton. Ryan was really excited because he got to meet two of his Miss State tweet buddies (they work for the university and constantly tweet about the sports programs at the school…). I don’t fully understand tweeting and I am just starting to get the hang of my blog…one thing at a time! Anyway, the game was really exciting! A good family friend of the Pace’s was able to get us tickets three rows behind State’s bench. It was pretty cool!! It was a very exciting game and we really thought State could pull out a win. Unfortunately, Kentucky got lucky and we walked away disappointed. Now when I say disappointed, it is an understatement as to how upset my husband was. I think the excitement of a possible win to the utter defeat of not making it in the tournament just sent him on a roller coaster of emotions. So what did I do? As a loving wife I sat silently until about 10:30pm and then yelled at him for ignoring me for the past six hours. :) I was very patient, but there comes a time when you just have to snap out of it. He is not one of those people that can not get over a loss quickly. He watches the games over and over until he is severely depressed over the whole thing. He then proceeds to watch every bit of commentary on the game. Again, severely depressing. What makes it a little bit worse this time is the critics were wrong; MSU probably deserved to have made it into the tournament. What can you do though? There is always next year right? Below are a few pictures of the game. Enjoy.

*On a side note, I have never been to Nashville and have always wanted to go, but when your team looses and the city is full of the opposing team (I have never seen so many Kentucky fans in my life!!), you just want to go home. I suggested we make a trip back sometime and I was very abruptly told NO, I am never going back to that city…we’ll see though, I think he just needs some time to cool off!

The Start of Something New

Welcome!

I have decided to start a blog! I've never been much of a writer and never thought of myself as a blogger, but I thought this could be fun! I found that I have some spare time lately, so why not?! I can't promise it will be well written or even entertaining, but it will be about me and my new husband as we start our lives together. And as it turns out, life does not slow down after you get married, it only speeds up. Life has been somewhat of an adventure the last few months, so tune in for more!
