Impromptu Weekend Away

So for those of you that don’t know, my husband is a die hard fan of Mississippi State. It is not just one sport; it’s all of them, particularly basketball though. So when MSU made the SEC championship game, naturally we had to take a trip to Nashville. We made up our minds to go at 8pm Saturday night and were on the road by nine. I slept the whole way:)

Sunday morning we got up to head off to the pep rally/send off at the Sheraton. Ryan was really excited because he got to meet two of his Miss State tweet buddies (they work for the university and constantly tweet about the sports programs at the school…). I don’t fully understand tweeting and I am just starting to get the hang of my blog…one thing at a time! Anyway, the game was really exciting! A good family friend of the Pace’s was able to get us tickets three rows behind State’s bench. It was pretty cool!! It was a very exciting game and we really thought State could pull out a win. Unfortunately, Kentucky got lucky and we walked away disappointed. Now when I say disappointed, it is an understatement as to how upset my husband was. I think the excitement of a possible win to the utter defeat of not making it in the tournament just sent him on a roller coaster of emotions. So what did I do? As a loving wife I sat silently until about 10:30pm and then yelled at him for ignoring me for the past six hours. :) I was very patient, but there comes a time when you just have to snap out of it. He is not one of those people that can not get over a loss quickly. He watches the games over and over until he is severely depressed over the whole thing. He then proceeds to watch every bit of commentary on the game. Again, severely depressing. What makes it a little bit worse this time is the critics were wrong; MSU probably deserved to have made it into the tournament. What can you do though? There is always next year right? Below are a few pictures of the game. Enjoy.

*On a side note, I have never been to Nashville and have always wanted to go, but when your team looses and the city is full of the opposing team (I have never seen so many Kentucky fans in my life!!), you just want to go home. I suggested we make a trip back sometime and I was very abruptly told NO, I am never going back to that city…we’ll see though, I think he just needs some time to cool off!

  1. Loving your blog! About the tweeting thing...I didn't get it either. But the entire blog community tweets all day long. It's like IMing with your friends (you've never met...) Mine is private because I only use it to communicate w/ blog friends, not work-related things.
