What are you passionate about?

This is a really hard question to answer. I’ve been reading the book “If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg. I began reading this book because I feel like I’m missing my calling. I feel like my talents aren’t always used to glorify God. Part of the problem also lies in the fact that I can’t clearly identify my talents. Some people it’s so easy. My sister, a very bright individual, knew very early on that she wanted to be a physical therapist and she is a great at it. Some people it’s obvious what their talent is, they are a gifted vocalist, a talented dancer, an engaging public speaker. Some people are teachers, some are pharmacists, some are ministers. And it doesn’t always mean it’s an easy road, but at least it’s a little clearer. For me, I’ve really been struggling to determine what my talents are, where my passion lies. I know there are a few things that I’m passionate about, but it’s hard to decipher those “passions” from what is truly important.

So, my prayer for today is that I can learn to listen, learn to decipher my wants and needs from what God wants and needs of me.

Healthy Kick and Iced Coffee

So yesterday I received a text from my husband asking me to go running with him. I said sure because normally we come home and it doesn’t happen. Well, yesterday was different. I think he is trying to kill me. It’s hot, I don’t like to exercise and we ran a long way, with hills. Normally, when I run, it's mostly walking, not with him, he pushes and yells at me to run! How is this fun?  He seems to be very motivated. So motivated that he is willing to change his diet and run every day. Now, I’m all about changing the way we eat, I’ve been trying to do this for some time now, but exercising every day!? I am LAZY. I don’t like to run! Again, it's hot outside!  This could take some getting used to. He says I’ll thank him when I like the way I look, what is that supposed to mean anyway!

Along with the running, we made some other adjustments last night too. We went to Publix to grab something quick for dinner. Normally he gets a full Italian sub, full of roast beef, ham, cheese and salami, healthy, right? Not so much. I suggested that he eat a turkey sub without oil, vinegar, mayo and some of the more fattening toppings. So we split a turkey sub with light mustard, no cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and green peppers. He did not like it! The next big obstacle was what to drink. No more coke! Ryan loves coke and Schwepps and sweet tea. We went to Target to get water bottles to tote around all day...they filter the water for us!

I read on Yahoo today that if you take 10,000 steps a day it will cut 500 calories a day.  So we picked up a Step Counter too.  Both of us are pretty competitive, so a little healthy competition might get us moving.

Now, for the good part.  I was on a blog yesterday and came across a recipe for iced coffee.  I LOVE iced coffee.  I crave it every morning but I try not to buy it from my favorite, McDonald's, because it's loaded with sugar, and you know, bad for me!  But I could not help trying the recipe and I could not be more excited.  It is DELICIOUS!!  The iced coffee recipe can be found here.  I am so excited to have iced coffee every morning right from my very own fridge!  It's the little things people!

So glad it is Friday! I'm excited to celebrate my mom and my brother in law's birthday this weekend.  We will also officially become members at our church!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Launching a Business

I'm taking a leap of faith. I have never done anything like this before and I'm a little nervous about it, but im going to try! I have decided to become a Scentsy consultant. I found out about Scentsy through a blog I read and wad intrigued. I ordered a mid-size kit and have been in love with it ever since. I live candles but I have always found that they burn quickly and don't always smell up a room. With the carpet issues we have had at our apartment I've been frustrated that our apartment never smells fresh. Well Scentsy solved that for me! I ordered four scents and I've burned two of them so far and it really livens up our home! So I hope that you will check out my new website and try some of the products!

Has it really been three months?

Yes, unfortunately it has!  I was on my sister’s blog the other day and realized that under my blog on her page it said last updated three months ago.  I knew it had been a while since I blogged, however I didn’t realize I had gone that long.  Life took over I guess.

Back in March we moved.  I was so tired of the old apartment that the new place has been a much needed change.  We hired movers to move us and while it was a little pricey, I will say it was nice to sit back and watch it all happen.  It took Miles a little while to get used to the new place.  Since he is a rescue, I think he gets nervous that we will leave him behind.  He does not adjust well to change.  He seems to be enjoying the new place now though, we have a little bit more room for him to run, there is a dog park in the complex and he can hang out in the sun on the patio.  Not a bad life for a dog.

March was also when I went to Savannah for the annual “Italy Girls” trip.  What a great group of girls!  I have been very blessed with their friendships and it has been fun to watch as we all begin lives after college with marriages and new babies.
April was filled with lots of trips.  We went down to Starkville for Super Bulldog weekend.  The next weekend we went down to Auburn for A-Day.  And the last weekend we headed down to Hattiesburg for a Pizz’s stepdad’s 70th birthday.  On the way home we stopped in Tuscaloosa to see the devastation from the tornadoes.  The TV does not do this justice.  The amount of damage is unimaginable.  It felt like we were walking through a third world country or a bomb ravaged area.  It’s so hard to believe a storm could do this amount of damage.  My heart breaks for these people.

May brought birthday’s, mother’s day and lots of down time, which was much needed after all the traveling in April.

Which brings us to June.  Lots of birthdays, father’s day and a little traveling.  This past weekend we were in Nashville for CMA Music Festival.  It was incredible, so many talented artists.  I definitely think we will be attending again next year.

In other news, my dad’s parents are moving here tomorrow.  It has been a struggle to get them here and I think this week and the next coming weeks will be difficult, but in the long run I think it will be good for everyone.  Please pray for my grandparents and my parents as my family makes this transition.

Hopefully it won’t be so long until I blog again, however I make no promises.  It’s hard to sit down to the computer when I get home from work, when I spend all day on the computer.  I do have a few projects that I have been working on so hopefully I will find the time to share soon!
